There is a certain elegance to calling this site and the project VoteLibraries. It says what it is, naturally. VoteLibraries can be used in a local campaign or across the country with the public. It’s a hashtag-ready call-to-action that is immediate and understandable.
EveryLibrary would like to thank the Vote Libraries Committee in Stark County, OH for donating the URL and Twitter identity to us for the run of this project. In November 2012, the Committee successfully campaigned for a renewal and increase of the library’s operating levy from 1 mill to 1.7, securing a stable revenue base of the library for the next 8 years with a 53% YES vote. Since then, the library has extended its mission serving their community as the “The Smart Store, where everything is free®’. Their donation helps us develop VoteLibraries as a cohesive brand. We have every hope that VoteLibraries will be a high-impact resource for library communities on the ballot. The resources we are building come from several years of experience helping local library YES committees do effective voter engagement about library measures.
